There is a proper place for all your waste. The proper place is not always the garbage can. Management of waste includes reduction, reusage, recycling, and disposal.

Storage (63.242.1) All waste, debris, or garbage must be kept in an enclosed building or container designed for that purpose.

Location of containers (141.09) If there is an alley, garbage containers, must be kept as near the rear of the property as possible. Containers stored within a house, garage, or other structure shall be made easily accessible each scheduled collection day.

Schedule and hours of collection (141.23) Private companies collect garbage at least once a week. In residential areas, collection should occur between 7 am and 6:30 pm. In commercial areas, collection should occur between 6 am and 6:30 pm.

Self hauling (141.23) Any person disposing of refuse at a site operated by the city or county must pay a fee based upon the size of the vehicle hauling the refuse.

Hazardous waste (141.11) Contact Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or Olmsted County Public Works Department.
